Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to November, the third month of school! There has been lots happening at Valley Creek this fall! Check out some of the highlights of last month:

  • In October we watched out soccer teams finish in the top 4 in the city.
  • Leadership students have been supporting various school and community wide projects – reading with Hidden Valley Elementary students, planning and implementing Halloween festivities (an assembly, costume parade, story and poster contests)
  • Leadership , TASC and CSSI work together to build school community
  • Band attended a feeder school event at William Aberhart High School where 250+ students came together to play in one huge orchestra!

In November, students will be attending our Remembrance Day ceremony Wednesday morning. They will receive a poppy for the ceremony. A small donation, if affordable, will be accepted and forwarded to the Royal Canadian Legion. Students and staff will also begin to collect canned food items for the Veterans Food Bank. This collection will start next week and run until the end of November.

Unfortunately we are unable to invite families to the assembly due to our time restraints and limited seating capacity. Alternatively, we are excited to announce we will be hosting an event on December 12. Details will be coming soon!

Before we know it, it will be January and Grade 9 students will be completing their high school registration and selecting courses. We have received a few details of upcoming Open Houses and Information sessions so I have attached them here for your reference. As more details and information become available, we will update you with that information.

Parking Lot Safety is a huge concern for our school. Unless your child has mobility issues, please drop off/pick up your child in the designated areas. We have had a few near misses with the busses and parent vehicles in the parking lot. Thank you for supporting us to keep safe at school.
